The work was rooted in family and community
Monique is a member of the Ihanktonwan Dakota and Oglala Lakota Nations. For more than 20 years, she has worked with the Oglala Lakota and Cheyenne River Sioux Tribes in behavioral health, health research, higher education, and community-based program development. A licensed clinical social worker with a Doctor of Social Work degree, she has supported individuals and families across the lifespan and helped organizations build culturally responsive services.
Delaney, Wookiye Tokahe, is an enrolled member of the Oglala Lakota Nation who grew up on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. A Lakota singer and drummer, cultural advisor, mentor, and graduate of Oglala Lakota College’s Lakota Studies program, he has dedicated his career to culturally grounded healing, recovery, and community connection.
Together, Monique and Delaney created cultural activities, safe learning environments, drum groups, horse experiences, mentorship, and opportunities for young people and families to reconnect with Lakota lifeways. The work was rooted in family and community before it had an organizational name.
